Starting out at the Ruhrkopf, near Winterberg, many different experiences await along the 240-kilometre route. Everyone will find their own highlight in the Sauerland region of the Ruhr. It may be the Bike Arena Sauerland with its diverse route network, the Bruchhauser Steine, a vantage point that affords visitors a breathtaking view of vast swathes of the Sauerland, the visitor mine in Ramsbeck or the historical town centre of Arnsberg.
Downstream, the cycle path leads to the Ruhr Metropolis. Visitors will discover numerous cultural highlights of the region’s industrial culture along the way. Touring cyclists can learn the history of the Ruhr Area as they go past disused collieries until they reach Duisburg’s Inner Harbour. This is where the Ruhr flows into the Rhine, visible from miles around thanks to the Rheinorange landmark, where the RuhrtalRadweg ends.
